By the Scrapo Price Index for October 2026: PP $0.28 per pound; PET $0.25 per pound; HDPE $0.34 per pound; LDPE $0.22 per pound; PVC $0.18 per pound; ABS $0.25 per pound. These are median asking prices between businesses, for loads by the bale, gaylord or truck.
How much is scrap plastic worth per pound?
It depends on the polymer first, then the form and the cleanliness. The table on this page gives the median for each polymer; clean, sorted, single-polymer material sells above it, and mixed or contaminated material below.
What are plastic bottle recycling prices?
Most plastic bottles are PET. The median asking price for PET on Scrapo is $0.25 per pound ($550 / MT per metric ton), across bales, flake and pellets. Clear bottles are worth more than coloured.
Why does a recycling center pay less than these prices?
These are prices between businesses for sorted, baled or ground material by the truckload. A recycling center buying loose material by the bag has to collect, sort, bale and ship it, and its price covers that work.
